Well, I have another one of those stories that we see posted every few days. It appears that after my long, frustrating Microsoft experience, I’m left with no other option than to pay them more money to use their services.

I manage an IT department for a non-profit organization. I use Microsoft Windows Mobile devices. I own 2 desktop computers and 2 laptops, all of which I’ve upgraded to Vista, then on the Windows 7. I have been a loyal XBOX 360 fan for 4 years. I’ve purchased countless titles, spent over $200 in XBOX Live subscriptions and have spent a substantial amount on accessories (headsets, extra controllers, larger capacity hard-drives, etc). I’ve proven my loyalty to Microsoft.

I recently upgraded from kde4.2 to 4.3 on both my desktop and my laptop machines. I found that after the upgrade, when desktop effects were enabled, the open windows would randomly resize themselves in a reversed/mirrored format. It appeared as if the bottom of the window was moving back up to the top of the screen and it would drag the contents with it. I’m looking to resolve this issue.

I will follow-up should I find the solution. In the interim, I have disabled that desktop effect and the windows seem to perform as expected again (minus the effect).

So recently, I was tasked with reinstalling windows on all of our spare PCs in the office. A few were some of our tech guys computers (some of which had linux on them). Most of the processes went as expected with the exception of the linux to windows conversion. After researching, I found there was an error/incompatibility with the Master Boot Record that Windows could not resolve, causing the screen to boot to blank after the “Setup is inspecting your computer’s hardware configuration” prompt stating the CD was checking the hardware.

A new worm has been found to affect 20Million + computers so far. It is set to execute on April 1, but nobody knows what it’s going to do yet. It blocks access to major anti-virus and system update sites. To determiner if you are affected. Try accessing www.mcafee.com/. If you are unable to access that site, make sure you can access other sites.

If McAfee seem’s to be the only one you can’t access, you may be affected. This is not an April Fools Joke. For further information or removal of the Conficker worm, the US Government has released an alert with details as follows:
